Our balcony is a long and narrow 13 feet by 3.5 feet. That is 45.5 square feet of gardening, standing, and sitting space.
Three City Pickers planter boxes are already here. They are 24.5 x 20.5 inches long and wide (pretty close to 2 x 2 ft), and 9.5 inches deep.
This year, 2 EarthBox planter boxes will join them. EarthBoxes are 29 x 13.5 inches long and wide and 11 inches deep.
One of the EarthBoxes will have a trellis system.
The five boxes will be set up similar to the plan above. Plants tend to spread out above the boxes a bit, so this plan leaves a little space between most of them.
